Philip V (1683-1746) was a frenchman who was king of Spain. Philip was the first Bourbon king of Spain. His entire reign of 45 years and 21 days is the longest in Spanish history. A fight about his crown caused a war that made Spain’s empire decline. He had 11 children total and 2 marriages. His wars went arguably bad. He abdicated to his son, but he died of smallpox, so Philip resumed his throne.
